About Us
Our Vision
We envision a world where underprivileged women are financially independent, empowered to contribute as equal partners and live with dignity
The Turning Point..
Pablo Picasso once said "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." For 13 years, Deepa's passion, gift and purpose revolved around the apparel industry. A NIFT post-graduate, Deepa Pant had the experience of working in international as well as domestic markets and across functions. But despite having it "all", the status, money, title the one major thing missing was 'Purpose'. She had been witnessing that Delhi had an increasing influx of migrant population arriving with their families in the hope of employment and residing in slums. Though migration is a serious concern, Deepa realised that there is a massive untapped potential in the community - especially women homemakers, tending to children and household responsibilities. She thought upskilling them would not only solve the problem of unemployment but also help build a sustainable venture. With her true calling and 'purpose' discovered....SVATANYA was born!
SVATANYA is a social enterprise that empowers underprivileged women by upskilling them to make handcrafted products, which are then sold through multiple online partners like WAC, Gharobaar, Zwende, LBB & offline channels. So not only do they get trained but also transition towards financial independence and self-reliance. The enterprise was founded with a belief, "If you want to bring a change, bring it through the women. Empower them and see the magic! Because when a woman grows, her children grow, her family grows and so does the society." Besides being socially committed SVATANYA also minimizes it's carbon footprint by using sustainable fabrics, textile recycling and using cut to order technologies. Environmental consciousness is one of the core values.
...And the Evolution
Inducting and training the first few women was the real challenge but as we evolved with time the concept spread through word of mouth and the existing workforce started bringing in more women, almost like a referral policy.
Besides working on empowering underprivileged women, SVATANYA launched an initiative to distribute soft toys to underprivileged terminally ill or differently abled kids in slums, hospitals and NGOs. A crowdfunding initiative under Amaryn Care, it serves the twin-pronged strategy of providing regular work to underprivileged women in addition to spreading joy and cheer among the underprivileged kids.
